Blog 1: How Useful Is Peterson's Theory On The Birth Of Rock n Roll

When looking into the birth of Rock n Roll Peterson’s theory plays a big role in explaining it. Peterson looks into the delivery of the music and how the audience receives the music which is a justified point to make but he fails to look at the music itself which is what Rock n Roll is all about. Peterson fails to address the nature of the music and how accessible Rock n Roll was to the average American teen. Peterson hints this with the development of the technology with the move to vinyl. Peterson claims that supply and demand of Rock n Roll was not a factor in the emergence of Rock n Roll but when an artist like Elvis came into the picture he created a massive demand for Rock n Roll and he captured an audience that helped put Rock n Roll in the spotlight.
